As part of his new role, Ropers will also take on responsibility for Amadeus’ Innovation function.
Having started his career with Brokat Infosystems in his native Germany, Ropers has held a number of high profile roles across the technology sector over many years. These include two General Manager roles at Microsoft; first as Global Head of Server & Cloud Sales, based in Redmond, USA, and then later as COO & CMO Central & Eastern Europe, based in Munich, Germany. Ropers also spent time as a Consultant in McKinsey’s Business Technology Office (BTO) in Frankfurt, Germany, and has strong credentials in the start-up world, honed from his time spent with Everycs in the UK and Velvetcase.com in India respectively.
Ropers, who holds an Executive MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business (USA) and a dual Master in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering by Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), will report directly to Amadeus’ President and CEO Luis Maroto.
Luis Maroto, President and CEO at Amadeus said, “During the course of his career, Stefan has developed and demonstrated significant technology, strategy and business model expertise, holding a variety of leadership roles in some of the most respected and successful companies in the world. We are very confident that his combination of consulting, start-up and ‘big tech’ experience will be extremely valuable to both our expanding Strategic Growth Businesses and also to Amadeus overall.”
