September 30, 2013:Amadeus, a leading technology partner for the global travel industry, announced today the appointment of Decius Valmorbida as global representative of Distribution Marketing at Amadeus.
Valmorbida, previously Executive Vice President for Amadeus Latin America, will assume the responsibility of developing the Group’s commercial strategies for airline carriers and travel agencies, ensuring that the leadership of the Amadeus distribution business model is adapted to the changing market and continues to provide the industry with cutting-edge solutions.
“Decius contributes to this new commitment by bringing his vast experience in the technology, travel and tourism industries, and after his successful work in Latin America, he will provide deep understanding of the goals and needs of our clients. With his appointment, I am confident that Amadeus’ global leadership in Distribution will be in the best hands,” said Holger Taubmann, Senior Vice President, Distribution, Amadeus.
Furthermore, Joost Schuring, previously global Airline Distribution Sales Director at Amadeus, has been appointed as the new Director for Amadeus Latin America. Joost, who knows in depth the central organization of Amadeus and the different Latin American and Caribbean markets, will be based in Sao Paulo.
Joost started his career at Procter & Gamble, first in the Netherlands and then in Spain. Since he joined Amadeus in 2001, he has held commercial positions in the Amadeus e-commerce division and in the management of travel agency and airline accounts; and since 2007, he has served in the Airline Distribution Sales area, where he was directly involved in the content agreements entered into with IAG, AF/KLM and Delta. In 2011, he moved to Boston (USA) where he played a key role in the agreements with LAN/TAM, Avianca and Aeromexico, among others, in his capacity as Vice President of Airline Distribution for the Americas.

Joost is Dutch, has a Master’s Degree in Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam and speaks three languages: Spanish, English and Dutch.
